On our way back from visiting our youngest daughter in Mississippi my husband, oldest daughter and I stop to visit the Gator Chateau. We were extremely excited to hold the baby alligator. They showed us multiple alligators at various ages. The employees were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. They explained how the temperature inside is kept the same as outside and they do a lot to help the alligators in their transition into the wild. There is a very old snapping turtle that shares the area with the alligators. A gift shop and tourist information area is also located there. It is dog friendly as long as the dogs are on a leash and kept out of the alligator room/enclosure. There is no fee for admission and I think the Gator Chateau is worth a visit. It is just a bit over half a mile from the highway.
This little place is awesome! I was taken aback by its small size at our arrival. By the time we left, I was excited and overjoyed! There is an alligator room that houses a water feature with 5-6 foot alligators and an 88 year old alligator snapping turtle. We got to hold a 1 yr old alligator. It was such a cool experience! They have a small gift shop. There is also an extensive collection of texas tourist brochures for the taking. They have duck food for sale at the gift shop for the ducks outside. This attraction was free of charge(except the gift shop).
The staff is extremely friendly and let us hold a baby alligator. There were 7 medium size alligators along with a 70 year old alligator snapping turtle named Peiere, I think he was French but a real life dinosaur. The price is FREE and we spent about 30 minutes there. Bathrooms are very clean 👌
This place was a great pit stop! All of the staff is friendly, and they almost immediately hand you a baby gator when you walk in. They also have the biggest snapping turtle I’ve ever seen in my life!! A good place to stop and stretch for a bit while on the road! 10/10 recommend.
Very nice place to stop and visit if you're in the area, the staff was very friendly and kind. They gave us the opportunity to hold one of the baby alligators which was really neat.
Super fun, got to hold a baby gator. Watch other swamp puppies hanging out with a huge snapping turtle. There is a lobby cat names Maggie that is super friendly and loves pets.
I was really surprised when it didn't cost anything to learn some neat gator facts and hold one. Absolutely would recommend.
Everything I love about Louisiana. City funded information booth with some beautiful gators and turtles. Great place to stop and stretch with a quick lake walk. Everyone inside was friendly and super helpful and the staff was top knotch. Completely glad we stopped to check it out.
Took my nephew here twice, and he likes it so much he asks me to take him again. Which is not inconvenient for me, since we live locally.
Very clean and the staff are very polite and forthcoming with any information about the reptiles in the aquarium.
